Nestled in the quaint area of Taniguchikaratanouchicho in Kyoto, リヨ offers a unique dining experience as a small local cafe that's not widely featured in popular directories. Known affectionately by some as the "Frog Cafe," this spot captivates visitors with its striking decor—an homage to the owner’s fondness for the color green and frogs, which can be seen throughout the eatery. As a result, it creates an intriguing, almost whimsical atmosphere that's infused with character.
The offerings at リヨ primarily focus on coffee, complemented by a limited selection of affordable meals. Reviewers mention that a simple breakfast is available in the morning hours, but specific details about daily operating times remain unknown. Visitors should be prepared for a leisurely pace as the solo owner manages all tasks herself, sometimes resulting in longer wait times. The space exudes a cozy, community feel reminiscent of a neighborhood hangout.
While リヨ provides essential amenities like a restroom, it lacks certain conveniences such as designated smoking areas, Wi-Fi, and power outlets. Accessibility might be a concern, especially since the establishment doesn’t have a wheelchair-accessible parking area. With no recent updates from the owner, the latest visitor experiences date back six months ago. Potential patrons are encouraged to savor the charm of this off-the-beaten-path venue, but a bit of patience and an open mind go a long way in appreciating its distinct vibe.

Amazing green color world. Very classical but unique cafeteria. The madam loves green color. You can see thousands of objects of frogs there. No separated smoking and non-smoking. No wifi available ni power charge. The madam works alone . It will take time sometimes . Don’t be afraid and just push the door . 9:00-11:00 breakfast meal available

Price per person: ¥1–1,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
