This is definitely my best dining experience in Japan. Highly recommend if you are up to some authentic cultural and dining experience. ——— Personal story: I had only a few hours to visit Kyoto, and I accidentally walked into this local small restaurant. There were around 10 seats altogether, and it was almost full already with locals when I walked in. I was warmly welcomed there, and somehow the moment felt like I walked into the restaurant in that Japanese TV series: “Midnight Diner”. Not those fake ones for tourist, but a real one. When I sat down, I realised three “challenging things” at the same time. 1: The menu is handwritten in Japanese, which means google translate doesnot work here for ordering. 2. Nobody really speaks English (I mean, in a way to make conversation, maybe a few words) 3. I can not use any card or other digital payment. However, these three challenges actually enhanced my experience. The chef and the other people who were dining there were super friendly. They were trying their best to communicate with me and help me. I also like the surprise of not knowing what are the dishes to be served. There was not any photo of the dishes. Everything was present. The taste, the vibe, the interactions and unforgettable memories. I am grateful for this experience.

Very delicious food with nice atmosphere. If you want to feel the real Japan in Kyoto, it will be the nice choice to visit here
