This seafood izakaya, which Sakana-kun raves about as “absolutely delicious,” is the best—I want everyone who loves fish to go there! At first, I used to visit the izakaya “Gen” (in Gotanda, Tokyo) without knowing that Sakana-kun was a regular there. The name is written as “Gen.” The sashimi here is surprisingly delicious. Later, I found out that Sakana-kun is a regular there. There’s even an autograph of his inside the restaurant. With Sakana-kun’s seal of approval, no wonder the sashimi is so delicious! Every single piece of seafood, sourced thanks to the head chef’s unparalleled expertise, is simply sublime. I was truly moved—it’s amazing how sashimi can turn out this incredibly delicious when freshness, quality, and cooking technique are all top-notch. And yet, the prices are so reasonable—it’s a total steal! The must-try dish to finish your meal here is the “Tai-meshi” (sea bream rice). Prepared slowly from scratch after you order, it’s absolutely top-notch. Order the Tai-meshi first, then enjoy the sashimi and sake while you wait for it to cook.
