It takes about 15 minutes to walk from the center of Yamashiro Onsen. When I visited after 1pm on a weekday, I was the only customer. When I told the owner that I wanted to eat something sweet, he recommended Uji Matcha Shaved Ice (850 yen), perhaps considering the fact that I had come on foot. When I looked at what had arrived, it looked like a very strong matcha tea. However, once you put it in your mouth, it goes down smoothly. Usually, shaved ice tends to lose its flavor towards the end or not be very good, but at this shop I was able to enjoy it until the very end. When I told him that I was heading to Kaga Onsen Station, he said, ``If the storekeeper was there, I could have given him a ride.'' If you are staying at Yamashiro Onsen, be sure to stop by.
