We visited Shirahama from Los Angeles and Vancouver, by way of Wakayama City and absolutely loved everything about our dinner at Kakure Ei Jin (Hidden House Jin). The food was fresh and delicious - we had the sashimi of the day, tofu and vegetable salad with a bonito and shiso dressing, grilled fresh fish of the day, grilled eggplant with miso, freshly made potato salad, miso soup, rice, and some great complementary appetizer. The owner was a great host. We had a lovely dinner here, highly recommend. Price per person: ¥2,000–3,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Very friendly host. Service excellent. Small but cosy on a rainy evening. There is an English menu but host recommended the Set Foreign Vistor Menu so we went with that. Good choice as we got a range of dishes, all cooked fresh in front of us. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: ¥2,000–3,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
