The interior of 28.5 Rooftop

28.5 Rooftop is an intriguing dining spot situated on the rooftop of the Hungaria Hotel along Gran Viale S.M. Elisabetta in Venice. Known for its exceptional views of Lido and the laguna, the restaurant provides a romantic atmosphere, making it an ideal destination for a sunset dinner or drinks. The young chef presents a diverse menu, focusing primarily on cocktails, complemented by options for dinner and dessert. Casual yet elegant, 28.5 Rooftop incorporates a bar onsite and ensures wheelchair accessibility via elevator.

Operating from 18:30 to midnight every day, it emphasizes a relaxed evening experience. Despite being a lesser-known venue, it holds promise due to its noteworthy location and the glowing feedback from past guests who found dining there during such events lucky. Reservations are recommended as capacity is up to 50 guests. Credit cards are accepted, easing payment processes, but information regarding vegetarian options remains incomplete.

Though earlier reviews emphasize warm service and great culinary experiences, no recent updates from the owner cast uncertainty over any changes in offerings or management over the past seven months. Lack of delivery or takeaway options requires diners to visit for dine-in meals only. Patrons have remarked on a need for practical amenities like phone charging stations, which may affect guest convenience during longer visits.

We really loved dining at the 28.5 Rooftop, we made it our special night and they really delivered. Impeccable food delivered with flair, a range of inspiring choices and views that even after sunset wowed us immensely. It's pricier than the places in the surrounding areas, but it's so worth it. Just like the Ausonia Hungaria hotel we stayed at, we don't have any complaints. We will say, however, that you must tell the maître'd if you have allergens, the langoustine on the sea bass dish was a lovely touch but it was not mentioned anywhere on the menu, you can be allergic to crustaceans and not fish. Also, there was a little grit in my scallops. We have to mention these very small things because there was nothing to complain about, only feedback. A wonderful restaurant we can wholly recommend and will visit again when we are back in Venice.

worst but most expensive cocktail we‘ve ever had. The view is nice, though.
