I live in the neighborhood, and frequent this place at all times, night and day. Yes, this location can have transient types around, but this is an urban neighborhood so that's a given and has to be expected. People should be exercising reasonable street smarts in the city anyways, and I've never had a problem here. The employees have always been kind and helpful to me, and the store is always clean and well stocked. I'd say this is among the better 7-Eleven stores in the city.
