Many guests come to degust nicely cooked grilled lamb and good salads. The success of this restaurant wouldn't be possible without the cool staff. Nice service is something clients agree upon here. As many visitors affirm, the atmosphere is cozy. The average rating of AL-RAKUBA on Google is 4.5.

I visited Al-Rakuba Sudanese Restaurant in Doha with a lot of curiosity to try authentic Sudanese cuisine, and while the food had its highlights, the overall experience left a lot to be desired. Let’s start with the food. The meat dish was flavorful and came out sizzling hot, which was a nice touch. The fried fish had a good crunch and was well-seasoned. The bowl of injera was soft but cold! One of the dishes we ordered didn’t even arrive sadly. The soup was served in a chipped bowl that had clearly seen better days, which was quite off-putting. These little details do matter, even in a casual dining setting. The real challenge, though, was communication. The waitress—who appeared to be of South Asian background—spoke only in Arabic while explaining the menu, despite me repeatedly trying to communicate in English. She clearly spoke English but insisted on using her Arabic. It made ordering really difficult and uncomfortable. To add to this, several dishes I asked for were unavailable, and I wasn’t able to get a clear explanation why but something about Baladiya banning it. Really annoying as a blogger posted online about a dish I really wanted. The atmosphere could use a refresh. Sticky menus, uncleaned walls, and a general lack of upkeep make you wonder why a bit of basic care isn’t given to the space. It’s not about luxury—it’s about hygiene and hospitality. A quick wipe-down and better attention to serving ware would go a long way. All in all, the food has potential, but the service, communication, and cleanliness need serious improvement. I hope they give the place the love it clearly deserves—it would make a huge difference. ⸻ Meal type: Dinner Food: 3 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
