We came here last night while in Ronda to watch the total eclipse. We were quite hungry and, as this was the closest restaurant, decided to give it a try. We were a group of 5 adults and 4 children. When we entered through the large gate, several other people were walking in ahead of us, so we naturally followed them. As the children wanted to sit outside, we headed towards the terrace. We approached the first waiter we saw, explained that we were a party of nine and asked whether they could accommodate us. He very kindly found us a table straight away. At no point did we seat ourselves. Unfortunately, what happened next made the entire experience extremely uncomfortable. While we were sitting down, the receptionist approached us laughing and, in an incredibly sarcastic and condescending tone, said something along the lines of: “Ah! So you just came in here, without a reservation or anything. You entered as if it was your own house.” We were honestly baffled. We explained that we had simply followed the other guests through the entrance and then ASKED a member of staff for a table. We hadn’t walked in and decided to sit wherever we pleased. Instead of leaving it there, she continued making rude comments even after walking away from our table. Eventually, I got up and asked her, “That’s not nice at all. Is this how you treat all your customers?” Thankfully, the restaurant manager intervened. He was genuinely kind, professional and apologetic. He told us not to let the situation ruin our evening and did his best to make us feel welcome. He even brought us a sharing dish as an apology, which we appreciated very much. A big thank you to him for the way he handled the situation. ( The 2 stars I am giving are for HIM - ONLY. ) Unfortunately, the receptionist still didn’t stop. From inside the building, she continued making faces towards our table. Later, when another group arrived and asked about a table, we could hear her telling them that they couldn’t have a better view because of us, again suggesting that we had somehow been disrespectful and “invaded” the restaurant. It was completely unnecessary and humiliating. We felt uncomfortable for the entire time we were there and honestly only stayed because our children were hungry. A misunderstanding about where guests should enter could have been resolved in ten seconds with a polite explanation. There was absolutely no reason to ridicule paying customers, repeatedly make sarcastic remarks about them or continue discussing them with other guests. Five stars for the manager’s professionalism and hospitality. Unfortunately, the receptionist’s behaviour deserves zero. If you choose to work in hospitality, basic respect towards guests should be the absolute minimum. I have rarely encountered someone so unnecessarily rude, condescending and unprofessional. Management should seriously reconsider whether someone who treats customers this way should be in a front-of-house position. What could have been a lovely family evening in Ronda was overshadowed by one person’s behaviour, and that is a real shame considering how well the manager handled everything else. Magníficas vistas a la sierra de Ronda , comida muy mejorable en relación al precio , lo peor aunque parezca una tontería, la cucharita del café de plástico, un horror. Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3 Meal type: Lunch Price per person: €30–40
