We arrived before 8:00 PM, and it wasn’t very busy. We ordered two pizzas, and the service was quick. As the evening went on, the restaurant filled up with people, and it was clear that it’s a popular place with both tourists and locals. The pizzas were delicious and a great size for one person, or even to share. The crust is thin and crispy, and the edges aren’t overly thick. We ordered the Picante salami pizza and another one with bacon, and the spicy one was definitely our favorite. We ordered an Aperol Spritz, and loved it, the flavor was very well balanced. I’m giving it 4 stars because once the restaurant became full, the service slowed down. We ordered a tiramisu for dessert, and it took about 20 minutes to arrive, so the attention wasn’t as consistent as it was at the beginning. Overall, the staff were very friendly, and it definitely lived up to its reputation as a great place for pizza in Rome. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Price per person: €10–20

We went here on our third night in Rome and it was our best meal yet! The pizza was delicious and we also enjoyed the fresh bruschetta but what really pushed our meal over the top was the friendly service! Our server and the hosts were so kind and genuinely interested in us and our experiences in Rome. If you are here visiting, do yourself a favor and go where the locals go, go to Al Grottino!
