I highly recommend visiting at least once. The seafood is incredibly fresh, which makes it taste deliciously sweet. The flavor and service are top-notch. My wife and I stopped by Benkay Japanese Restaurant and Sushi Bar during a recent trip to the Portland area for a quick lunch. We were greeted by a very nice hostess whom happened to be our server as well. She was most attentive during our visit. My wife had the Mexican Roll and I had the Volcano roll. The Mexican roll presented very well and was clearly made of very fresh ingredients. The combination of spicy sauce and mild tuna was outstanding. My volcano roll was impressive to say the least. It was an enormous mountain of delicious scallop and vegetable tempura with avocado maki at its core. I was very hungry when I arrived yet couldn't finish the dish. Both the food and ambiance were perfect. A definite must-try if you like sushi.
