I was really excited to try this place with my family, but unfortunately it was a huge disappointment from start to finish. The food is quite pricey, and the quality, taste, presentation, and portion sizes didn’t justify the cost. Everything we ordered was extremely salty, and that’s saying a lot coming from someone who usually adds extra salt to everything. The service experience was equally frustrating. I was told my order would be ready in 20 minutes. After arriving 30 minutes later, I was told it needed another 10 minutes. Then another 5 minutes. In total, I waited about an hour, going back and forth between my car and the restaurant several times. When my order was finally ready, I noticed the ranch and buffalo sauces were only about half full. I politely asked if I could get one more of each, and instead of receiving a simple yes or no, I was met with a judgmental attitude and told they were $1.50 each. After explaining that I’d already waited an hour and didn’t have my purse with me, the employee reluctantly gave me the extras. As she handed me my order, she sarcastically said, “Thanks for waiting,” and rolled her eyes. At that point, I was hoping the food would make up for the experience. Unfortunately, it didn’t. We genuinely wanted to like this place, but between the long wait, poor customer service, and extremely disappointing food, it was a complete miss for us. There are good chicken places and then there’s Berwyn Chicken Company — where the chicken is so big I’m pretty sure it was raised somewhere in Texas. I’m talking Texas-sized chicken. The kind of portion that makes you pause for a second and wonder if the chicken had its own zip code. First things first: support your local independent restaurants. Places like this are the heartbeat of a neighborhood. Chains come and go, but spots like Berwyn Chicken Company are the ones that keep the community fed, happy, and slightly overstuffed. We need places like this to keep thriving. Or as I like to say: Keep Kickin’ — Eat your chicken. Now let’s talk about the St. Patrick’s Day special: the corned beef egg rolls. Whoever dreamed these up deserves a culinary award from the Irish Food Hall of Fame (which I assume definitely exists somewhere). These things were incredible. Crispy egg roll shell packed with corned beef goodness that felt like it was personally blessed by a leprechaun. After the first bite I started looking around for tiny guys in green coats with green beards guarding pots of gold behind the counter. At one point the food was so good I almost went full Saturday Night Live Bill Swerski's Superfans — like when Chris Farley threw on the hula skirt and started dancing. That’s about the level of excitement this chicken brings out. If you see a guy doing a little happy dance in the parking lot, don’t worry it’s just someone who just finished eating here. And huge props to the owner Chef Velour. You can tell this place has personality, passion, and someone behind it who truly cares about the food and the community. That kind of energy shows up in every bite. Between the giant Texas-sized chicken, creative specials like those corned beef egg rolls, and the fact that it’s a proudly independent local spot, Berwyn Chicken Company is the kind of place we should all be rooting for. So do yourself a favor: stop in, grab some chicken, support local, and remember the most important rule of the day: Keep Kickin’ — Eat your chicken. It was my family’s first time eating from Berwyn Chicken Co. We placed an order online and picked up about 10 minutes after the time listed on the email. The order was ready upon pick up. However, when we got home the shrimp & chicken boxes were missing the mild sauce and the lemonade was not in the bag. I called and informed the person on the phone that I was missing the mild sauces and lemonade. While on the phone, the person asked if I was going to come and pick up the sauces or put us down for them. When I walked in the restaurant, who I assume to be the person I was speaking with on the phone was yelling about the issue to the cook in the back. Speaking about the issue in an exaggerated manner as though I was irate when I called. On the phone, I simply let them know that I was missing the mild sauces that should have been included with the order. I asked if he wanted me to bring the bag back in and his attitude quickly changed. I just accepted the sauces and my lemonade and left. In short - the food lives up to other reviews and overpriced. It’s nothing special as we believed from social media reviews. Customer Services leave much to be desired. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $50–100 Food: 3 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 2
