If you want to remember Schwartz Castle, come to this restaurant first. Visitors state that it's fine to go here for the Italian and Mediterranean meal. Many guests have noticed that you can order perfectly cooked meatballs, filet américain and lamb here. Do not leave without degusting good cannolis and tasty chocolate cakes. Celebrated a birthday with a couple last night. Between the three of us, we had visited six times. We were seated in the dining room, which was nearly full when we arrived at 630pm. As it was a nice summer evening, the outdoor area was fully occupied. We ordered pre-dinner cocktails, which were all well-executed. We shared two appetizers, bruschetta and the burrito spagliotta, which disappointed us as the both were served on a bed of arugula with the same dressing. For mains, we had rosemary chicken w/au gratin potatoes, lasagna and meatballs parmigiana. Unfortunately, the chicken dish was deemed to be dominated by the potatoes. We ended our meal with canollis, mouse parfait and espresso. We ended our meal and ended up spending two-plus hours enjoying whiskey and conversation on the patio. Observations: The dining area was cozy and very clean. The pricing was very fair, providing excellent value-for-money. The menu offered light and heavier options, with a modest wine list and a sizable selection of bourbons given an otherwise tight menu. The bar and patio area was exceptional, offering intimacy and comfortable seating with a minimum of street noise on the patio. Parking on the street was available, but limited. The attentiveness of the serving staff was exceptional. Our server, Nick, was engaging and informative. His personality shows through beyond the transactional, sharing stories and Seinfeld humor. His service was supplemented by three other members of the staff, which ensured we felt well served throughout our evening. Columbus needs Bistrolino and more places like it. So for those suburban dwellers who loath driving downtown or worry about costs of parking or scary news headlines, make the pilgrimage to this gem on the north edge of German Village and you will not be disappointed.
