If you have a shellfish allergy, you need to be very clear about what menu items are of concern ahead of time, and you need to tell more than one person about it. Our table's waiter did not know which of the courses had shellfish components, did not re-read the menu correctly when I asked about them, and did not let the rest of the staff know that I'd told him I'm allergic when he'd asked. The server to whom I had to explain my situation was mortified, but that clearly wasn't her fault. Even before that, though, my family and I had walked in for our reservation and stood unaddressed by anyone for ten solid minutes. The maitre'd evidently had no clue what was going on around him, and not much interest in finding out, because I watched two other couples come in and also stand around unaddressed. Most of the people are super pleasant, and the food and the rest of the service was excellent, but given the restaurant's reputation I left pretty disappointed. Food: 5 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3

The food quality has gone down considerably. This is our last visit to canlis. At the $1200 dinner for 4 there are many other much better options in my opinion. I would not recommend them and we would not be going back. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

Just wonderful experience. The food was unique, incredible and the best i ever had. BUT it was the staff that made this an unforgettable lifetime experience. Thank you so much for the special attention you afforded my grandson. He will remember you forever. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
