* A Masterclass in Disappointment — The Castle Inn** If I could give The Castle Inn zero stars, I would, purely out of respect for accuracy. Calling my visit “underwhelming” would be an insult to things that merely *fail to impress* — this was a full-blown expedition into the darkest corners of hospitality. From the moment I walked in, I felt like I had interrupted a staff meeting dedicated to avoiding eye contact. I stood there so long waiting to be acknowledged that I started to question my own existence. When someone finally approached, their enthusiasm hovered somewhere between “forced at gunpoint” and “I’d rather be anywhere else.” The food? Let’s just say I’ve seen more life, colour, and warmth in a documentary about Antarctica. My dish arrived lukewarm, flavourless, and looking like it had lost the will to live halfway through being plated. Whatever seasoning was used must have been as imaginary as the service standards. The atmosphere had charm in the same way an abandoned bus station at midnight has charm — technically it exists, but you wouldn’t choose to be there. By the time I left, I felt like I deserved a certificate for perseverance. Or therapy. In summary: The Castle Inn is a perfect choice if you enjoy long waits, indifferent service, and food that raises existential questions. Otherwise, consider quite literally *anywhere else.* Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
