Nice old cantina, but the food is average and the prices aren’t. Pasta tasted like supermarket dried pasta. Fine if you want the atmosphere, but you can eat much better in Rome for the same money. Food: 2 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 2

We were walking through Trastevere in Rome and came across Trattoria da Augusto, which stood out for its fair prices compared to many of the other restaurants in the area. We wanted to sit outside, but it was full, so we waited. The area was busy overall, and queues were forming at other places too, which felt like the normal rhythm of the neighborhood rather than an exception. While waiting, we were offered a glass of sparkling wine each, which was a very nice gesture. Once seated, we ordered and did not wait long despite the restaurant being busy. I had a pasta with a deep, rich aroma, and my husband had a thin, crispy pizza. Both dishes were simple but well executed and enjoyable. One downside was an additional service charge added to the bill. It felt unexpected and not clearly reflected in the menu prices, which takes away slightly from the overall transparency of the experience. Overall, a pleasant meal with good food, fair pricing, and efficient service in a lively setting, but not quite a full five-star experience due to the added charges.
