I hadn't been to Delta Cafe in at least 15 years, but moved back to the hood and couldn't wait to try again. First off, the service from the bartender was great; he was kind, attentive and made great drinks! I came in for a drink and to-go food around 7pm on a weekday. You wouldn't know it from the outside that they were even open, which was odd given the time. I took a seat near the windows at a small table. The window sills were covered in thick dust and dead flies. I had already ordered my food by the time I realized how gross it was inside. That said, the chicken was delicious. Mashers and gravy also pretty good. Beans and rice tasted old, dry and flavorless. The cornbread was bad. Dense, and again, no flavor. Meatloaf tasted okay, but looked like a brick. I don't know what happened to this place, but it's not what it used to be. Hope I just caught the cook on a bad night, but damn, after spending nearly $50, I had higher hopes.
