I placed my order through Ubereat, delicious food, the pork chicharrón reminded me of the food from Cajamarca and the anticuchos were very well seasoned. The picarones can improve, overall very good choice! Service: Delivery Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $30–50 Food: 4 Recommended dishes: Salsa Criolla, Tamal de Chancho

3.5 STARS COVID-19 TAKEOUT Before adulting, remember all the happy hours, large group dinners, and the partying? Fun times! Except the morning after and the toll it took on your bank account. Mr. AMEX has given me the finger plenty of times, along with Mr. Visa and Mr. Mastercard. We've all been there, when one person in the group orders shot after shot of Henny XO and the rest of the group has to foot the bill...every.single.time. That's why I always looked forward to girl dates with one person, at a time. As we're all grown up and living our own lives now, we don't see each other as much. And, with COVID, not at all. We're all being super cautious. My childhood bff and I had a great meal at El Porteño's original location in Crocker-Amazon (not related to El Porteño Empanadas) so I thought I relive that a little by visiting and supporting their new location in The Mission. Though, I'm eating alone...in my car but hey, that's our new norm. Formerly Alba Ray's (RIP, we had a great GNO there), El Porteño II Restaurant & Bar opened last week for takeout, delivery (3rd party apps), and outdoor dining (4 tables on the sidewalk). Unlike their original location, they have a FULL bar here! They also have music playing - if you're comfortable dining on the sidewalk, it seems like it would be a festive place. Same menu as their original location serving Chifa and Peruvian cuisine. Happy hour deals are 3 pm - 6 pm. I ordered the Lomo Saltado and Yuca Frita for takeout. It was ready in about 25 minutes. All staff wore masks properly and there was hand sanitizer at the host stand. * Lomo Saltado: Beef Sautéed w/ tomatoes, onions, and cilantro ($18.98): bit.ly/2SHMCCk Good flavor, tangy and peppery but the beef was tough and chewy. Some pieces were jerky-like. I enjoyed the fries which absorbed the flavorful juices. The rice had perfectly separated grains (you can upgrade to fried rice for $2). Standard pricing for SF but the protein portion (less than 4 oz) seems a lot smaller than I remember. I could be wrong. * Yuca Frita: Fried Yuca w/ huancaina sauce ($7.98) Hot and crunchy but you're going to want to eat this ASAP. They don't cut any vent in the box so it may not travel well depending on far you're driving. I usually prefer my food to be underseasoned, rather than hella salty but these were bland. Only one frita was lightly seasoned and the huancaina ("cheese") sauce just tasted like cream. Overall, it's great to see El Porteño expand with a FULL BAR. Kudos to the owners for opening during the pandemic. Compared to their Crocker-Amazon location, the food is not there yet. I'm confident that they'll improve and look forward to coming back and trying their Aji de Gallina.
