Great restaurant overall! Good food and a fun, welcoming atmosphere in a great location. The highlight of my visit was definitely the bartender, Jordan She was friendly, attentive, and clearly knows her what she’s doing. I wasn’t sure what to order, and her recommendation ended up being perfect for me. She made the whole experience feel easy and personalized without being over the top. If you go, try to sit at the bar! Jordan really makes the experience stand out and you’ll have a great time :) Meal type: Other Price per person: $30–40 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I was super excited to see this place open back up for the Nats season/Summer/Warmer weather. I visited today during the Nats opening day game, so I saw it go through relatively tame crowds to start getting very busy once the game ended. I had never been before, but I recently moved to Navy Yard, and I love to go to my local restaurants/bars, so the more we have the better. I came out very impressed by my visit. The happy hour deals are phenomenal. The beer deals are great. Not many places you can get a 3$ beer and be on a patio overlooking the water. The frozen marg was delicious. The nachos were great. However, the highlight to me were the tacos. Both the hamburger taco and the cod taco were absolutely delicious. I came out extremely impressed by the foods and drinks. Every single staff member I interacted with today was extremely kind and in a good mood. That’s always a plus. I foresee a few critiques of the place. Really only posting these to help the managers/owner based on a customers perspective on what I think people will find issue with (but personally I found to be non-impactful) 1.The barcode service. I personally think it’s not a issue at all and obviously if a place closed for the winter months they are not churning a ton of profit. They need to look for ways to offer a good product and a also be financially viable to succeed in a tough environment for restaurants. My only issue is the credit card charges at “the salt line”. I had no idea they were owned/partnered by/with them but I feel like if they coded it a “TSL - El Rey Catina” that would probaly be beneficial for the consumer. 2. The size of margs. The way the glasses are makes them seem pretty small. However, they go pretty light on the ice and heavy on the punch, so I found this not to be an issue. I foresee people complaining they are small due to the glass they use. Maybe use a different size glass with more ice to present a “bigger” drink. 3. The patio is seat yourself after games. I saw a few people look confused at weather to sit themselves or to wait for someone to sit them. Maybe have a sign that says “please seat yourself” on the patio so people know to just take a seat would be beneficial. 4. The servers definately do not have a good idea of which table is which at this point. Not a big issue at all and obviously will be a learning curve if it’s new staff to know which table is which to bring food too. Maybe have a few stood up table makers to help the staff with knowing which table is which as they get started on this. 5. Description of items. They had a cherry blossom themed drink with a unique name. Just maybe put a quick description of what is in each item on the mobile order app. Overall, I came out extremely impressed. I plan to be back soon and frequently with bigger groups. It’s great to have another patio available in navy yard, and I hope this new plan by them helps this place find steady ground in this neighborhood. Nothing but good things to say about my experience. Hi Ryan! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this review. We are addressing some of the potential critiques you've brought up - much appreciated it! *** Note: We are not affiliated with the TSL. So we're kinda confused about that part. If you would kindly clarify with us via DM (through our IG @CantinaElReyDC or @ElReyNavyYard) that would be greatly appreciated!
