First dinner in Rome was at Ristorante Fuocolento, and it turned out to be a really good choice. Yes, ordered two cheeseburgers in Rome, and surprisingly, they were honestly some of the best burgers I've ever had. Also tried two different tagliata steaks, one with mushrooms and the other with arugula and Grana. Both were very good. The real standout for me, though, was the tonnarelli cacio e pepe. Very, very good and probably my favourite dish of the night. Simple Roman food done really well. Had a bottle of Allegrini Valpolicella Classico 2025, which was excellent, nicely dry and paired really well with the steaks and pasta. I also really liked the atmosphere. A lot of outdoor restaurant terraces in Rome can be very brightly lit at night, but Fuocolento kept the lighting softer and created a really nice, comfortable ambiance for dinner. A special mention to our server Vincent, who was friendly, funny and genuinely caring throughout the evening. He brought a small complimentary fried fish croquette with an amazing tomato-based sauce, and at the end also brought three complimentary cookies. Little touches like that made the evening even more enjoyable. Great food, excellent wine, a really nice atmosphere and fantastic service.
