We went into Gabrini to buy some cheese. They have a nice looking cheese counter. The young man behind the counter had a sullen look on his face on the afternoon of February 3, 2026. He proceeded to treat me with absolute disdain. Perhaps he dislikes Americans. Perhaps he dislikes old men. Perhaps he disliked me. Perhaps he dislikes tourists in general, but the anger reverberated off him in waves. With no eye contact, he spoke English begrudgingly, after I apologized for not speaking Italian. When I asked for a recommendation, he pointed at a soft Gorgonzola, while looking away. I said yes, and thank you. After paying at the register, I handed him the receipt. He walked down the counter to hand the package to my wife. The fromaggi was fine, but I will not return to Gabrini. Food: 3 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 4
