We discovered this little gem during a family vacation in Rome and lived it so much it became part of our routine! Every evening ended with a trek from our Airbnb to Gelateria Viva for wonderful Italian ice cream. The first time we went, the proprietor insisted on giving us samples of nearly every kind of gelato in the shop and immediately endeared himself to our family of 8. We felt like we got to know him over the course of the next week and loved every interaction. Posted here is a selfie with him on our last night. We were sad to say good-bye! The ice cream is amazing, but go here for the cultural experience. This is a place locals go, not a touristy place at all. Amazing - would give 10 stars if we could!
