Udo Güldenberg and his team always make you feel welcome in the Gronau inn. This New Year's Eve we also celebrated the turn of the year with the in-laws at GroWi. When we asked about a vegetarian option for the 6-course menu, Udo quickly thought about it and surprised us with a great meat/fish-free variation from his really good kitchen and even prepared vegan steaks for us. Bad, just bad, there were 23 people there on the second day of Christmas, our son had taken care of the seats and when we asked we were told that there would be a card for goose etc. but what we were offered there wasn't possible at all. The children didn't like the food at all, unfortunately there wasn't a single children's dish on the menu. After asking several times, the kids had the schnitzel with fries. Young people who also wanted the schnitzel were told no. The menus on the menu are a matter of taste, but If you don't want to eat it you shouldn't be forced to order anything so that it could be too stressful for the kitchen. The waitress puts the dessert at the tables even though it wasn't ordered. When asked what it was, the blunt answer was that it was ordered. Staff totally overwhelmed. As soon as he walked in, the chef was totally stressed and rude to the staff, impossible behavior. There was one of the service staff who was chasing the other staff. We've eaten there several times and the Gronauer Wirtshaus is actually known for its traditional cuisine and it was always delicious. Stick to your concept of plain cooking that suits you and make one for your Christmas card and you're good. But unfortunately those were the experiences we had there and everyone else would give the same reviews here. That was not. Oh finally, my rump steak was great...the croquettes were a flop and the mushrooms weren't tasty at all. The sorbet drowned in prosecco. The parfait, well. Porcini mushroom soup is not a matter of taste in my opinion. The aim here was to sell expensive menus with little work, in my opinion, which was a complete failure.
