The Hammer's cafe, once a Wolfgang Puck affiliate, is situated in the ultra-modern courtyard adjacent to the Billy Wilder Theater. The AMMO has a lot of things going for it: happy hour 'til 730, placement in a world-class art museum, a tranquil outdoor space in the heart of Westwood. But there's also one significant issue: Where's the service? This could have easily been a two or three-star review, except that there is a shining light: The best damn Steak Quesadilla I've known. We arrived with moments to spare before a film event and needed food fast. Kudos to the chef for agreeing to make our order right at the wire. The cashier brought us our food in to-go boxes and everything from there was an ecstasy for the senses. The sight of grilled red onions and aged cheddar cheese festooning the main dish, beatific. The smell of finely cooked steak, mouth-watering. The feel of my fork gliding through the hearty mound of lime-green guacamole to mix with tortilla-cheese-and-carne asada, effortless. And the taste, well, it's why I recommend this to any museum goer wanting vim for an evening filled with thought and contemplation. Now's the time because changes are coming fast! "The museum café will close in January [2018] and will reopen in June with a new menu, a fresh look, and full bar." --Hammer Museum website.

Good coffee and decent food in a very cordial atmosphere. The service is extremely leisurely so if you are looking for a quick bite or drink this is not the place.
