We stayed at Hotel Madera over Father's Day 2026 weekend and had a mixed experience. On the positive side, the doorman and the young woman who checked us in on Friday were warm, welcoming, and provided excellent service. We also thoroughly enjoyed the restaurant, which was one of the highlights of our stay. Unfortunately, our experience took a significant turn after the first night. Both my partner and I woke up with multiple bug bites. My partner had several bites on the backs of his legs and a few on his arms, while I had bites on my legs as well, though to a lesser extent. While we never identified the source, the bites were concerning enough that we immediately brought them to the attention of hotel staff. What was most disappointing was the initial response. We felt that our concerns were not validated. Ezkiel was polite and professional, but he missed an opportunity to make us feel that our complaint was being taken seriously. Being told that the issue likely wasn't possible while we were showing visible bites felt dismissive and left us feeling unheard. The hotel did move us to another room, remove the amenities fee, and offer complimentary breakfast. However, we had to leave early and were unable to take advantage of the breakfast. More importantly, these gestures did not feel commensurate with the inconvenience and distress we experienced. Once we were left wondering what had bitten us while sleeping in the hotel bed, it became difficult to enjoy the remainder of our stay. We were surprised that no additional compensation was offered—not even a complimentary night or partial refund—given the circumstances. Although Ezkiel later stated that he would "roll out the red carpet" if we returned, the experience had already overshadowed the many positive aspects of our stay. Hotel Madera has some wonderful employees and an excellent restaurant, but the handling of this situation fell well short of our expectations. Had our concerns been taken more seriously from the outset, and had the hotel made a more meaningful effort to address the impact on our stay, we would likely be leaving a very different review today. We took pics. I will add shortly!

Great room and good location to walk to nearby stores and restaurants. Hotel was nice and clean and the staff was great. The bed was comfortable and the room was a good size. The only issue that bothered me was the toilet seat. It looked worn out which made it look not clean. If that was replaced, the room would be great. Besides that, I would definitely stay here again. The location of the hotel is great and the rooms are generally spacious and well appointed but the details are troubling. The phone from the room doesn’t actually connect to an operator. The plug outlets are very difficult to access if you want to use the desk. They charge a $30 amenity fee which includes access to unlimited sparkling water which is nice but then the spout was broken on my floor. All in all there is potential here but needs a bit more attention to details and service. Service: 2
