Ristorante Cinese Jing Yuan in Rome is an okay place if you’re looking for Chinese food while in the city. The menu has a decent range of familiar dishes, so there’s enough choice for most people. The dish we ordered was fairly average — it was fine and edible, but nothing particularly stood out in terms of flavour or quality. Portion size was reasonable and it arrived fairly quickly. The restaurant itself is quite simple with a nice atmosphere, and service was polite and efficient during our visit. Overall, it’s an average option for a casual meal if you want a break from Italian food, but not somewhere especially memorable. Worst Chinese food we’ve ever had in our lives. Completely unseasoned food, zero flavor, zero effort, very rude service. They didn’t even turn the lights on until we were half done with our meal (which we couldn’t finish, due to the tastelessness of it). Attitude of the owner shifted completely when a group of Chinese tourists came in. But for the other guests, the service was clearly very different. Rice tasted hard and old. Vegetables were literally 90% bean sprouts. Fish was 95% batter, 5% fish(?). The best thing about the meal was the water. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: €20–30 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
