Church of the Ascension is what you should visit before tasty meals at this bar. Try good flank steaks, creamed spinach and smoked salmon. Tasty chocolate soufflés, crème brûlée and biscuits have a nice taste. It is good to enjoy delicious malbec, martinis or rum. This 5th star from us comes from the value! The quality of the steaks we had were excellent and were extremely competitive with the big name places charging 20-40% more. If you want the full fancy uppity steak house experience, go to keens or wherever else, but if you're looking for a badass steak in a pub setting, this is the place! We will definitely be back! Hidden gem!

Last night we shared a meal with our cousin at the Knickerbocker Bar & Grill. Not a great one! The ambiance, with its chatty bar crowd, intense diners, is typical New York neighborhood better class tavern. Our waiter was pleasant and quite professional. We all passed on the steak house specialty. Our cousin ordered the duck special with a lamb appetizer. I had cherrystones appetizer and calves liver. My wife had iron skillet shrimp scampi with the extra side of linguine. My cousin was not enthusiastic about the duck. My wife after one bite sent the cold tasteless linguine back to the kitchen garbage pail, ate the scampi which shared its small skillet with two large pieces of garlic bread. She had stomach trouble that night and the following morning. My calves liver was unevenly cooked and was covered with charred pieces of what must have been onion bits. The food is not inexpensive. But half the price would not be worth it.
