My companion and I found this restaurant online, and she was very impressed by the reviews and decor. We were delighted to see that that it more than lived up to our expectations from the friendly comforting chalet vibe to the excellent service and friendly feeling from the wait staff all was set for a delicious meal. The fondue was excellent, even better than some Swiss ones, and the pot au feu was very tasty if a little lukewarm. It’s a pleasure to have such friendly service in France, And we also loved the complimentary smoking jackets that are given to smokers. We had the pleasure of trying out Le Torrent, where we opted for both the fondue savoyarde and the fondue aux cepes for dinner. The flavors were undeniably delightful, and the portion sizes exceeded expectations - we found ourselves with an abundance of food that we simply couldn't finish. Alongside this, their green salad was a true highlight, striking a perfect balance and arriving at our table wonderfully fresh. The attentive and friendly service further elevated our dining experience. All within a cosy and warm atmosphere. While our experience was overwhelmingly positive, a small observation pertains to the fondue savoyarde. It could have been improved with a touch less salt. In the case of the fondue aux cepes, the cheese seemed to be too liquid due to the high temperature in the pot, subsequently affecting its taste. Upon removing the pot from the heat, we noticed a positive change in texture, allowing the exquisite blend of mushroom and cheese to come through. Perhaps a milder flame for the fondue aux cepes pot would ensure an even more enjoyable consistency and flavor.
