Enjoyed a drink on the terrace before an early dinner watching the commuters crossing Waterloo bridge. Delightful and efficient service there as well as in the restaurant. It was great to see the owners mingling with the customers. The restaurant is slightly crowded but comfortable. Food was imaginative and very enjoyable. We enjoyed a wide range of the a la carte menu guided by the excellent and knowledgeable server. Drinks list is good. We really enjoyed a Vino Verde and the German beer. Prices are reasonable for the area and quality of the experience. Thoroughly recommend. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £50–60

When you arrive at Poon's, you'll be so dazzled by the interior and the vibe that you might worry the food can't possibly live up to the exceptional start. Luckily, it very much does. The wontons are unsurprisingly the standout, and a must-order. They're the core of the origin story of Poon's (and I say that as someone who travelled to Ealing Grocer to buy them as a take-home pack during Covid!) and this is them in their final, evolved form... just sensational. Next, the wind-dried meats. Available in multiple forms across snacks and clay pots of jasmine rice, all totally delicious. What the Poon family were historically known for, just as good in the modern day. All manner of excellent starters and mains sit alongside. But pay attention to the drinks menu - the cocktails are frankly superb and fat better than you might expect. Poon's at Somerset House is excellent. The perfect weekend lunch or date night spot. Beautiful place, beautiful drinks, beautiful food. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: £70–80 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
