My husband and I like to try different restaurants on our Anniversary. In the past we have experienced stellar meals. Unfortunately this was not one of them. One of his favorite fish is tilefish. The fillet was unevenly cooked. The thicker part was raw. Tilefish is not meant to be sushi. My lamb ragout was very ordinary, uninspiring, if not bland. The highlight of the meal was the chocolate soufflé. The staff was pleasant and attentive but considering the quality and quantity of the meal it is definitely not worth the price point.
The space is spare but nicely appointed. They have a terrific wine list: full of esoteric choices and nicely priced. The wine service was stilted—the time for flutes for sparkling wine has passed. The chicken and waffles provided a well-fried, large portion of chicken, but the foam was an odd choice: don’t try to elevate chicken and waffles any further. Cucumber salad was delicious but expensive for what was served. The caramel cake was stunning. Our table was a group of assertive professionals; our waiter didn’t quite hold her own but she tried. Not a lot of choices for non meat eaters.
Worst evening ever. Rude staff. Paid 3x the cost of a regular steak for the “special,” only to have it arrive 1h 30m later, burnt to a crisp. Staff would not correct it, then gave me a free (cheap) desert. Waiter put his thumb in my appetiser and refused to replace it.
