BEWARE! We couldn't have been more disappointed with Maria Rita. We had made a reservation months in advance. When we arrived at the restaurant, they claimed that the air conditioning wasn't working and that they were moving us to another restaurant. The first restaurant they tried to move us to was unacceptable. The second restaurant was mediocre at best. Ultimately, we discovered that they had overbooked and didn't have the decency to call us in advance to let us know so we could make alternative arrangements at an excellent restaurant. They also didn't have the decently to provide a gift certificate to return another night. They simply threw in a cheap bottle of champagne. We came to learn that this is a common practice. Our hotel, which had recommended them, was equally disappointed and won't be recommending them again. Had we all known, the hotel would have made alternative plans for us. We were only in Porto for two days, had looked forward to great meals, and couldn't have been more disappointed by the horrible experience that the ownership of Maria Rita has created for us. I'd AVOID -- you don't want to be disappointed as we were.
