The Mermaid Inn in Rye is a truly unique and special place to visit. It is an old 17th century coaching inn, with cobbled streets and all the charm of a bygone era. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the bar has an extensive gin menu with over 40 varieties. The restaurant offers a two AA Rosette menu that is full of delicious dishes, although the portions may be on the small side. The rooms are smaller than expected for the price, but they are cosy and comfortable. There is plenty of history and atmosphere to soak up in the building, and it's a great place to escape from 21st century life. The bar and restaurant service is friendly and prompt, and the breakfast is tasty. However, the car park is too small and the bar prices are a bit steep. For a truly unique experience, The Mermaid Inn is definitely worth a visit.

We stayed here for two nights. A real fabulous hotel, atmosphere was great. Every room had its own quirk and history.staff were very frindly. Food was really good and served piping hot. Would definitely recommend a visit...

We booked Sunday luncheon here on an extremely busy weekend in Rye. On arrival we were shown to our table which was beautifully laid out. White table cloths and napkins the full complement of glasses and gorgeous crockery. We were given our menus and water as we were seated. for such a decadent restaurant the menu was incredibly good value 2 course £30 and 3 £35. We opted for two course and all had starters and mains however there were some delicious sounding desserts even ones that I could eat even with my dairy allergy!! Unfortunately for me too full to attempt My friends had the starter of mackerel which they both said was lovely and I had the vegan option of baked leeks. The balance of the confit black aioli complemented the leeks that were wrapped in nori perfectly. Our Sunday lunch was also perfectly cooked my friends having the pork and myself the lamb that was a perfect pink. This Sunday lunch is such good value, the service immaculate so much so I would highly recommend it above any other pub or restaurant in Rye for Sunday lunch. Great job team Mermaid

If these walls could talk, they’d probably have some wild stories! The Mermaid Inn is packed with history and character, and you can feel it the moment you step inside. Wandering through, soaking up all that old-world charm, was honestly half the fun. We settled in for a few drinks, and the whole vibe just added to the experience, cozy, characterful, and a little bit magical, like drinking in a slice of the past. Great spot if you’re after something with a bit more soul than your average pub. Would definitely come back for another round and another dose of history!
