We recently visited Jerusalem and had lunch at the Nafoura restaurant near Jaffa Gate. This is a decent restaurant with a nice courtyard seating area. Opening hours are 12pm to 11.30pm daily. This restaurant is found on Latin Patriarch, the first street north as you enter the Old City from Jaffa Gate. There is indoor and outdoor seating. We particularly enjoyed the outdoor environs and ambience of this restaurant. There seating area is quite large, suitable for large tour groups which this place seems to cater to. Service was attentive and timely during our lunch. Menu includes typical Middle Eastern cuisine and food choices priced generally higher than other local restaurants we tried within the Old City. The food and drinks tried here were just ok, not as enjoyable as other places we tried. Hummus wasn't good during our meal, tasting more of whipped egg than traditional hummus. Eggplant starter by comparison was flavourful and much enjoyed. Pita bread was too hard, might have been left over from the day before. Mezze sides where fine. We also the grilled meat main which included two lamb kebabs and a vegetable kebab served with rice. The lamb was drier than we like but tasted decent. The veg and rice were both fine. Fruit juice served were just ok, they were much lighter, tasting somewhat watered down compared to other places around the city. Overall, we very much liked the dining environment at Nafoura but didn't care as much for the meal or prices compared to other restaurants tried during this trip. As such, we'd give this place a pass and try others if we were to return to Jerusalem.
