Tucked away on a quiet street just a short walk from the Vatican in the Aurelio neighbourhood, this elegant gem offers an extraordinary culinary journey masterfully orchestrated by Chef Koji Nakai. It isn't just standard fusion; it’s a deeply personal, high-end "identity fusion" where precise Japanese culinary techniques effortlessly embrace bold Roman traditions. From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere strikes the perfect balance of contemporary elegance and cosy, romantic intimacy, making it an ideal choice for a special date or a quiet escape from the historic centre’s tourist crowds. The culinary execution is flawless, defined by pristine raw materials and absolute precision. The sashimi is of superb quality, melted-in-your-mouth fresh, and exquisitely presented like a vibrant work of art on the plate. The prawn (ebi) gyoza are incredibly succulent, packed with perfectly cooked shrimp that burst with savoury flavour in every bite. Another absolute standout is the ceviche, which strikes a superb, masterful balance between the bright, tangy punch of fresh lime and a rich, luxurious creaminess that ties the whole dish together beautifully. The kitchen brigade did a fantastic job. What elevates Nakai from a great restaurant to an unforgettable experience is the impeccable, warm hospitality. We had an incredible meal at Nakai Roma- definitely our favorite dining experience in Rome so far. Carlos and Christian provided exceptional service. They were both knowledgeable, kind and attentive.
