Opa is pretty near National Museum of Civil War Medicine. The Greek and Mediterranean cuisines attract customers looking for positive impressions. A lot of people have noticed that you can eat good moussaka, spanakopita and greek sausages here. The recipe for success of this restaurant is its nicely cooked baklava and tasty friands. Come here and have delicious wine, beer or strawberry margarita. Visit Opa for great coffee.

The convenient location of this place makes it easy to reach by any transport. On the top of all that, the staff is attentive. Service at this spot is something one can name spectacular. Many visitors note that prices are attractive for what you receive. At this restaurant, guests can enjoy the comfortable atmosphere and homey decor. Clients rated Opa 4 on Trip.

I went to Opa several months ago on a weekend afternoon. The two of us were one of two tables seated inside the restaurant (none outside). The service was painfully slow -- not slower than you'd expect for a busy restaurant that's understaffed, but much slower than you'd expect given that the restaurant had one server for two tables. The food was just OK -- I had decent but not extravagant dolmades, and pretty disappointing moussaka (not only bland, but simultaneously heavy and watery, which is actually pretty impressive when you think about it). I do not recall if I decided to skip baklava for dessert due to my experience with the moussaka, or if I had the baklava and it was so generic as to not be memorable, but given my voracious appetite for baklava, either of these should be warning signs. With the food and the service as they were, I may have forgiven it if it were cheap, but it was not. Still, given the dearth of truly memorable Greek dining in Frederick, I will probably give them another try before writing them off entirely (everyone has a bad afternoon every once in a while).

The good: location on Carroll Creek and outside seating was very nice. The bad: the food was extremely subpar. The moussaka was cold and did not taste fresh. The crust for the spanakopita was tough and rubbery. The waitress was also trying way to hard to be funny which resulted in too many grating interactions.I love greek food but could not reccomend this place. Hopefully they can resolve the food situation because then it would be a wonderful establishment for downtown.
