Kiyomizu-Zaka Street is a great attraction for tourists who come to eat at this restaurant after long walks. Japanese dishes are to be tried here. Okabeya may please you with perfectly cooked vegetable tempura, misir and bean tofu. Ordering good ice cream is what a number of guests advise. It's nice to order delicious matcha.
The convenient location of this place makes it easy to reach by any transport. The hospitable staff at this spot can show how much they value their clients. The fast service is something these restaurateurs care about. From the visitors' point of view, prices are low. The lovely atmosphere gladdens people and attracts more clients. But most people who use Google didn't give this restaurant a high rating.

My dining experience at Kiyomizu Junsei Okabeya, a revered Kyoto restaurant tucked just steps from the iconic Kiyomizu-dera Temple, was an exquisite deep dive into authentic Kyoto culinary culture, and the absolute highlight of my entire Japan food journey. Housed in a charming traditional Kyoto machiya townhouse, this beloved establishment, with its own in-house tofu workshop, is famed for its exceptional house-made tofu cuisine, especially its signature yudofu (hot pot tofu). Simmered to silky, melt-in-your-mouth perfection in a gentle dashi broth, the tofu released a delicate natural sweetness and rich, pure soybean aroma, elevated beautifully by its balanced house special sauce. I also savored fresh hand-pulled yuba (tofu skin), crisp seasonal Kyoto vegetables, and classic obanzai side dishes, each crafted with meticulous detail and elegant, understated artistry that honors washoku’s core philosophy of highlighting premium, simple ingredients. The warm, attentive service and serene, spacious interior offered a peaceful retreat from the busy temple crowds. More than just a meal, it was a heartfelt celebration of Kyoto’s refined culinary heritage, and I cannot recommend this wonderful hidden gem more highly to any visitor to Kyoto. Thank you so much for your 5-star review! We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your meal and found the ingredients impressive. Just a small note for your memories—you actually had our "Somen noodles and Kyo-Tendon set." While it's a bit different from Ramen, we are so glad you loved our traditional Kyoto-style Somen and tempura! We hope to welcome you back again on your next trip to Kyoto!
