The service was good, and the decor fit nicely. The music selections seemed a bit out of step and too loud. The food needs some help (sorry). The cheese on my scramble wasn't melted and the components seemed to be cooked separately and then thrown together. My wife's dish was bland, with a grey looking sausage patty from a grocery store freezer section. It all seemed dry and either over or undercooked. No garnishes or presentation made. I write this knowing you can do better, and hope the best for the business in the future.

I did not expect a meal like this in Sandpoint. Panhandler has a quaint look to it. It is like a log cabin crossed with your dear auntie's house. Walking in was a little odd as everyone stopped and looked at us like they knew we weren't locals. The servers were very nice and took great care of us. The strawberry rhubarb pie was a great start to my meal. It was the ideal balance of sweet and tart. The burger I had was amazing. The beef was fresh and seasoned well. The bun was soft and fresh too. The fries were great and two sides of them took care of the whole table. Every part of this meal tasted like it was made from scratch in house. Good from the first bite to the last!

A friend of mine, a long-time local, took me to Panhandler Pies Restaurant & Bakery the other day for lunch. As a marketing consultant and an avid aficionado of non-franchise "mom and pop" eateries, I have had sampled numerous establishments from coast-to-coast over the last 40+ years. Here at the Panhandler, I ordered their half-and-half combination of Pastrami Sandwich and Beef/Vegetable Soup and I was blown away at how good they tasted. Every bite was a delight. I also found the service staff from the server to the busboy was refreshingly good AND friendly. All in all, this place provided me with the best lunching experience in all recollection. Kudos to the management, the chef and the staff.
