We are tourists, visiting Rome for a week. We LOVE Rome and just walking and enjoying the neighborhoods, museums, parks, amazing architecture, and delicious food. We left The Vatican Museum and did not want to eat at a tourist trap so we walked three blocks and came across Pasta E Basta. It is a neighborhood take-out restaurnt. There are four or five small tables inside and outside for those who want to eat there. The pastas we ordered today were EXCELLENT! A Carbonara with Guanciale; a Carbonara with Truffles; and a Sorrentina with parmigian, tomato sauce, and Guangiale. We were impressed by the wonderful staff, the neighborhood clientele, the large portions, great prices, and downright excellent cuisine! We had mineral water, a coke, and a small bottle of red wine. It is not fancy. Quite the opposite. It is a real neighborbood business with homestyle pastas! We ate our fill and still ended up with food to take home, which provided a great dinner tonight! I highly recommend Basta E Pasta. It was a fun and delicious find near The Vatican and Vatican Museums. The Sorrentina I had was scrumptous!
