My partner and I went to PepperBerry on Saturday 30 Nov 2024 for breakfast. The man at the counter asked us for our room number and we advised that we are locals and not staying at the hotel. He advised that breakfast finishes at 10.00 (it was 9.30 at the time) and we confirmed that this was okay as we only wanted to eat breakfast. He then asked us if we are staying at a different hotel and we again advised him that we are locals who live in the NT. He then demanded to see our ID. This is when we walked out and had a lovely breakfast at the Rabbithole instead. He was very uninterested in serving us and seemed to keep coming up with reasons not to. 1. If he didn't want to serve us 30 mins before the end of breakfast service, he could have just said so and that would have been fine. 2. PepperBerry Restaurant should put a sign at the door that advises potential customers that locals (i.e. people that are not staying at the Hilton Darwin) are not welcome to eat at the restaurant. This will stop wasting everyone's time. 3. If he didn't want to serve heavily pregnant people, he could have also just said so. Will not recommend this place to anyone. We had steaks here and they were pretty good. Red wine jus was ok, mushroom sauce was exactly like the red wine jus with a bit of mushrooms added. Scallop entree was mediocre. Pepperberry bread and chips were great. Atmosphere was quite dull. No music. Sleepy mood during dinner will never be a memorable one. Lots of things to improve on. Service is friendly and helpful, but could be more attentive. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $80–100 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 2
