After you have seen Nelson Provincial Museum, come to this bar. Spanish food is worth a try here. You will appreciate good coffee at Porta Via.

A lovely little place for lunch. I sat inside but could see the outside seating out the back which seemed to have a few tables. The food was tasty. Quiche with small salad and a coffee was $21 which is about what I would expect. Although I didn't indulge it is also a wine bar

The place looks promising and has an interesting wine list which I'd have enjoyed tackling had our visit been later in the day... But instead the coffee was bitter nay sour, the croissant chewy (a spreading knife struggled to get through it), and the orange juice consisted mostly of ice (on a cold rainy day). I paid the bill without much thought but now wonder how we got to the price we paid. Unless there was a mistake, it's also quite expensive. Others seem to rate the place, so perhaps I'll try again (in the evening!)...

Sorry to hear about this Erin, I really wish you could have said something at the time as all are very easy to fix. We will endeavour to be more careful heating the croissants going forward. If you do have a query on the bill we can track it on pos so just let me know! 03 5390394 Lisa
