I’ve been fortunate enough to dine at many Michelin-starred restaurants, and yesterday I had the pleasure of dining at Restaurant A in Taipei. Bottom line: Chef Alain and his team exceeded my expectations. The restaurant is painted bright white with pops of color from contemporary artwork. The natural light streaming through the floor-to-ceiling windows elevates the entire experience. Many restaurants opt for muted colors and subdued lighting, which can make it difficult to fully appreciate the visual beauty of the food. Not Restaurant A. The bright space and daylight allowed each course to shine with vivid colors. Each dish was truly art on a plate. The 13-course menu delivered a kaleidoscope of flavors that danced on the palate from start to finish. I chose the non-alcoholic pairing, and it did not disappoint. The sommelier, Dave, did an exceptional job crafting the pairings—particularly the marigold, pine, and melon combination, which was extraordinary. It was also an absolute pleasure meeting Chef Alain, who personally served a few of the courses and walked me to the door to say goodbye. That thoughtful touch made the experience feel like a luxurious dinner shared with good friends. I highly recommend Restaurant A and will definitely be back. Thank you, Chef.
