As of June 30, there’s no real sign for the restaurant, you just pull in to the Baru market and it’s out in front. We were welcomed in short order both by the other patrons, who quickly consolidated their group to free up a table (it was the afternoon rush), and by the owner, Tatiana. The expansive menu includes traditional Costa Rican specialties like casados as well as more exotic fare like kebab shawarma; some truly excellent milkshakes and smoothies will thrill the kids (and adults!). No beer, alas, but they do have glass cokes for the gourmet soda drinkers out there. I really enjoyed my chicken shawarma, and the casado was really great. The quesadilla is built for sharing, delicious sautéed onions on the chicken. And, again, great milkshakes and smoothies. Service was prompt and friendly, which was astonishing given how many orders the two behind the counter were juggling. We took boxes home and are looking forward to them! You’ll probably see a strong local contingent as well as people working in the area, as it’s clearly a popular spot, and that gives it a very friendly vibe just a little detached from the legions of tourist-centered locales. It’s also a convenient pit stop as it has the minimart and souvenir store next to it and the organic grocery right across the street. Hola Roberto Lamentamos mucho el inconveniente con el rotuló que si tenemos,pero que quizás no pudiste ver Nuestro rótulo dice Soda Baru Casados Comida mediterranea Hamburguesas Burritos quesadillas y mucho más Pero bueno solo te aclaraba para que supieras que si contamos con rotulación Luego estamos encantados porqué la experiencia te gustó mucho y la pasaron bien... Food was delicious, so many lovely options, international and local cuisine. service was with a big smile, very welcoming and they spoke more english than we did spanish so we are very thankful.
