Nestled in the heart of Inverness, River House is a seafood lover's paradise with a menu that boasts an extensive selection of fresh fish and seafood dishes. The establishment's cozy ambiance and charming interior design make it an ideal spot for a romantic dinner or special occasion. Prices are on the higher side, but the quality of the food and service justify the expense. Located by the River Ness, guests can enjoy a lovely view while dining inside or outside during the summer months.
Some standout dishes include the Crab Thermidor, Cullen Skink, Seafood Stew, and Sea Trout. The oysters are also a must-try, especially during happy hour when they're only £1 each. For drinks, the establishment offers an impressive wine list, including Viking-inspired cheeses from Tain, and an extensive selection of whiskey and gin. Cocktails like the Pilot Gris and Amalfi Lemon Tart are popular choices, while soft drinks like the homemade lemonade are refreshing options.
River House's proprietor, Alfie, sets the tone for the establishment's warm and welcoming atmosphere, making every guest feel like an old friend. The staff is professional and attentive, ensuring that every visit is a memorable one. Overall, this fine dining spot is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy exceptional seafood in Inverness.
The seafood was incredible, with superb Oyster menu, and really extensive drinks menu too, really glad we booked here as our choice before going to to Blas Festival. Lovely location on the river and although really high food standard it’s an informal and relaxed vibe which I really liked. Will definitely return! Busy spot so make sure to book in advance. Allow time to park too as not much around it mainly permit holders. Our family concluded their two-week vacation in Scotland with dinner at Alfi's River House Restaurant. The food, service, and atmosphere were all exceptional. Our waiter was witty, which we all appreciated, and knowledgeable regarding gluten allergies. I will definitely stop in again the next time I'm in inverness. Great to be back after 10 years absence from Inverness and after a warm welcome from Allan delighted to say it was every bit as good as I remember perhaps even better. Amazing menu, so hard to choose, but you can't go wrong whatever. This is the place to go in Inverness for outstanding seafood dishes and wonderful service in an intimate tasteful atmosphere. So good we booked again for the following Saturday before heading to Eden Court theatre. Thank you Alan and team.
