The exterior of Rules
At Rules, London's oldest fine dining establishment, one can indulge in traditional British cuisine with a touch of elegance. The ambiance is charming and the interior design exudes old-world sophistication with its heavy wooden furniture and red carpets. While the price range may be on the higher side, the quality of the food and service justifies it. Located in Covent Garden, Rules is a must-visit for those seeking a taste of history and culture.

The menu boasts classic dishes such as jugged hare, steak and kidney pudding, and smoked salmon with crab. For those looking for something more modern, they offer a chicken, leek, and mushroom pie casserole served with flaky pastry. The dauphinois potatoes are a standout side dish that should not be missed. The cocktail bar upstairs offers an impressive selection of drinks, including bespoke cocktails and house wines such as the Chilean Merlot.

While some reviewers have noted a decline in quality and responsiveness to criticism, others still find Rules to be a wonderful experience. The establishment's rich history and famous patrons, such as Edward VII, add to its allure. With attentive service and a beautiful setting, Rules is a great spot for a special occasion or a romantic evening out.

Had a great experience at Rules. The grouse was something different and really enjoyable, but the steak and kidney pudding was honestly one of the best I’ve ever eaten. The whole place has such a special atmosphere and feels like a real piece of London history. Also, a special thank you to our waiter Tudor — he was fantastic and made the whole experience even better. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Pro's- excellent service, beautiful old school atmosphere. Steak pudding was epic, rillette starter very good. Good prices excellent. Cons- fish pie possibly worst we have ever had. Sooooo dry, with limited fish. Had what amounted to just under 2 pints of Guineas at £30, yes. £15 a pint, served in 3 small tankards. wine overpriced, starting at £40. Go back? Probably but not for drinks
