Great food, but the server was not good. She rarely smiles, did not check in on us enough and generally seemed like she didn't want to be there. Even if she doesn't want to be there, sometimes you gotta fake it. I forgot her name but she has short blonde hair. We also didn't like the little booths with strange side by side seating. We'd like to face each other while talking. Food: 4 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2 Order type: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30

We had an incredible dinner at Rye Restaurant and left raving about every single bite! This stylish urban-rustic spot in Appleton, perfect ambiance with dim lighting, candles, and that cozy yet upscale vibe next to the CopperLeaf Hotel. I ordered the special cowboy steak (what a beauty!), and it was cooked to perfection: juicy, flavorful, with a gorgeous sear, topped with those rich, glazed mushrooms and onions, resting on creamy mashed potatoes with tender carrots. The presentation was restaurant-level stunning, and the flavors were spot on tender, savory, and comforting all at once. My wife got the lemon chicken, which looked and tasted amazing: perfectly seared chicken medallions with bright lemon notes, capers, grilled lemon slices, and a pile of crisp green beans over mashed potatoes. It was fresh, zesty, and beautifully balanced. We finished with their chocolate dessert, a rich, decadent torte with fresh berries, whipped cream, mint, and that gorgeous berry sauce drizzle. Absolute heaven and the ideal sweet ending! The service was attentive and knowledgeable, the cocktails (if you had any) are always craft level, and everything felt fresh and locally inspired. We loved literally everything about the meal… except we were a little sad the wedge salad wasn’t available anymore and hope it is brought back! Rye never disappoints, highly recommend for a special night out in the Fox Cities. We’ll be back soon (and crossing our fingers for that wedge salad next time)! Thanks for the memorable evening, Rye team! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $70–80

We’ve dined at Rye before and have always enjoyed it, which is why we chose it to celebrate a birthday on April 14th. I made a reservation and mentioned we were celebrating a special occasion, hoping the team might help make it a bit more memorable.

Arriving at the bar early, to start with a cocktail the bartender was carrying on a conversation with another guest on the other side of the bar which made us feel unimportant & insignificant; which isn't the tone I was accustomed to

There was a small birthday note on the table, which was a nice touch. However, unlike what we've experienced at many other upscale restaurants, there was no acknowledgment of the birthday during or after the meal. Even a small gesture—like a dessert —would have made a big difference. I would have gladly paid for a celebratory treat, so this wasn’t about expecting something complimentary.

It felt awkward to bring it up in the moment, but I left feeling a bit let down for choosing Rye to mark the occasion. Hopefully, this feedback can help improve the experience for future celebrations.
