Unwelcoming and Disrespectful Treatment Toward American Tourists Our experience at Salotto 42 on September 10 was extremely unpleasant. We found open seats at a bar-top area against the wall, but the manager told us we had to give them up because we needed a reservation. He then claimed there was a waiting list, even though no one else appeared to be waiting. We were made to stand outside during a thunderstorm for approximately 35 minutes. During that entire time, no one was seated in the places we had vacated, and additional seats became available. When we politely asked again whether we could be seated, the manager remained standoffish and asked where we were visiting from. After we said we were American tourists, his attitude made us feel singled out and unwelcome. The bar had available seating, yet we were left standing outside in severe weather without a reasonable explanation. Whether this treatment was because we were tourists or Americans, we cannot know for certain, but it felt prejudicial and discriminatory. This was one of the most disrespectful and unwelcoming hospitality experiences we have ever had. We left feeling humiliated and deeply disappointed. I cannot recommend Salotto 42 and would encourage visitors to support a business that treats every guest with basic courtesy and respect. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Price per person: €100+

Nice interior design. Would recommend for a night time for a better experience. Make sure to reserve a few days before as it can get difficult to get in. The best spot is inside, where the room is filled with cozy sofàs and comfy chairs, like a great italian “Salotto”. The lighting inside is just perfect, creating a beautiful atmosphere with those dark lights. On the outside you will have a beautiful view of the so called Rome Stock Exchange which is not in service anymore, along with other beautiful historical buildings. Would recommend to visit for a night date or a night with friends as the inner atmosphere is just as perfect, while day time is not the best unless you want to enjoy an aperitif outside. Salotto42 has an amazing atmosphere—stylish, cozy, and perfect for a relaxing evening. The drinks were excellent, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. The service was friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. Definitely one of the best spots in Rome for cocktails and a great vibe!
