THE CABBAGE HAS PEANUTS. It will not be labeled on the menu and if you ask your server, they may tell you that there are no nuts. We pointed out the topping and specifically ask if it was nuts. They said no. Turns out, they were wrong. Asked again after my throat started closing and turns out, oh yeah actually those are peanuts… To the staff, please, if you are not sure what’s in something, ask the chef! Don’t make up an answer. People asking about specific ingredients likely nuts likely have a reason other than shear curiosity. It’s a shame because the place seems great but I’m not sure I’d feel safe going back without personally talking to the chef about each item. Hopefully this first experience will eventually be balanced out with better ones if we make it back in the future. Food: 4 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 4 Meal type: Breakfast

We had the smoked wings - i got the dry rub which was delicious and juicy for the most part. Restaurant itself didn't have the best AC so it felt a bit humid inside and everything was a bit sticky, including the tables and chairs and floors.

My husband and I are total foodies who just moved to Raleigh NC from Las Vegas NV, so we know good food. The SmokeStacks Cafe is a fun and funky little place with delicious food. We had the goat cheese espandad, ranch cheese puffs, and the bone sucking ribs (our description on the bone sucking part). We were in the area checking out the Halloween decorations in the Historic Oakwood Neighborhood and found this precious little find by accident. So glad we did! We are looking forward to going back to work our way down the menu. The SmokeStacks Cafe was such a delightful surprise in so many ways. Worth the trip to this little gem!
