I've been craving Sonic for a while, but all the ones around me are absolute garbage. I've always liked Sonic but having enough bad experiences will turn you off entirely. I was on a little road trip heading back to Houston from Tyler, and I know from when I lived in Frankston that this location has been here for many years. I figured if it hasn't shut down yet, there's probably a good reason. I was right. The burger I ordered was cooked perfectly, tots were crisp and freshly fried even at the late hour I'd visited, and the food runner was a really friendly young man. The only reason I knocked off a star is due to the touch screen at the bay I was in being completely non-functional. I would've been happy to leave a buck or two as a tip, but no amount of smushing my finger on the screen had any effect. I was trying to see if there were some sort of physical buttons I was missing, but no... Just didn't work. Y'all's employees are really nice, so I definitely recommend fixing that so they aren't missing out on getting a bit extra for their service. Sounds like the food and service really redeemed the stop, especially late on a road trip. Fresh burger, crisp tots, and a friendly carhop are exactly what you want from a good Sonic visit. That non-working screen is definitely frustrating, especially when you’re trying to leave a tip. Good call-out for the team there—glad everything else made it worth the stop. Saw this truck blazing away in ETMC medical center parking lot two doors away from Sonic. We got to watch as the hook n ladder arrived and firemen put out fire quickly and without incident. Who knew we would get dinner and a show. Praise God the driver made it out safely but sadly his truck was a full loss. Thankful for firefighters. — eating ice cream with Jennifer Canady and 2 others at Sonic Drive-In (Flint, TX).
