Sono was so good I actually ended up going back twice. Both times I got the lunch bento box, which I thought was a really good deal for under $20. You get a salad, dumplings, sushi, a small egg roll, rice, and your main. The first time I got the pork belly, and it was GREAT. Definitely on the heavier side for lunch, but really good. The second time I went with the chicken, which was a little lighter but still very satisfying. A friend of mine who has been there a bunch told me to ask for extra teriyaki sauce, and he was absolutely right. I’d recommend doing that. You can also ask for double dumplings instead of the sushi if that’s more your thing. Overall, it’s exactly what I want from a classic Japanese bento box lunch. Good variety, good portions, fair price, and clearly good enough that I went back again during the same trip. I’d definitely come back. We went there for dinner on a weekend night. Not too crowded. Parking was right in front of the restaurant. We had reservations so we were promptly seated. Good service. Food however was not that great. Sono Shrimp and Cheesecake was probably the best things. Aburi lacked flavor. Spider roll had too much sauce. Story of the salmon had too much sriracha which overwhelmed rest of the ingredients. Screaming O was okay. Otoro Nigiri was fine too. I guess I had high hopes. Absolutely fabulous - we walked in during happy hour, which the host informed us about and got to enjoy several small plates we might not otherwise have selected.
