Great food and atmosphere. My favorite place to go when I'm in West Marin. I particularly love the cheese plate and the pizza with the Yukon gold potatoes. Yum.

Yukon Gold Pizza (dish review). Yukon Gold Pizza --- This is one of the simplest pizzas I've ever tasted, yet one of the best. You won't find oysters, clams, or frog legs on top of this pie, just basic ingredients like Arugula, Shaved Potato, and Mozzarella (with a touch of Fontina and chili flakes). The base, a slightly doughy, yet oh-so-crispy thin crust is perfect for an appetizer-style pizza (which this is). In the center, a small pool of liquid rests - never a good sign, but excusable given the flavor, a medley of vegetables and cheese. Something about the North Coast of California spawns great pizza, pizza that can be found at Stellina, nearby Cafe Reyes, and Fort Bragg's Piaci Pizzeria up Highway One. The unique style all use is not quite "West Coast" and not quite Neapolitan, but rather a beautiful marriage of the two.

#850 - Osteria Stellina (Italian/American). Osteria Stellina, an upscale, charming establishment, brings a little SF flair to Point Reyes Station. The restaurant feels as if it was pulled straight from Hayes Valley and plopped down in the middle of nowhere. Reclaimed wood tables, ambient lighting, and local art give the place a trendy feel, helping justify the insanely high prices. Though the menu often changes, one thing can be counted on: each dish will feature mostly (if not only) locally sourced Organic ingredients collected from Marin County's fruit fields and cattle farms. These ingredients are crafted into delectable appetizers and entrees, most notably the Rossoti Ranch Braised Goat, a dish paired with herb polenta and Stellina Farms braised greens. The goat, a tender and juicy cut of delicious meat, is extremely satisfying. Though not quite as great, the sides pack a punch too. Stellina, a slice of what everyone loves in SF, can stay as long as it likes in Point Reyes.
